Camp Fantimae - Unplugged - CAMP FANTIMAE IS FULL

Camp Fantimae - “Unplugged”
June 10-14

9am-2pm (Parent supervised swim from 2-3pm)

Is your child enchanted by superheroes, dragons, fairies, wizards, or comics? Camp Fantimae is an exciting opportunity for children ages 7-11 to engage in the two things that interest them most: Fantasy and Animation.
Specifically designed around my own two boys ages seven and nine, this camp is constructed to give children a way to interact with these passions outside of  movies, video games, or tv. I have watched high tech gadgets begin to gobble up my children and I want to show them that there are other avenues for their interests. My mom, Ellen Ramp,  is co-teaching the camp with me. She teaches in the Education Department at the University of Southern Mississippi and has years of experience as a children’s librarian. I taught special education for seven years and raise three children.
Camp Fantimae is designed around two themes. Fantasy will use techniques of reading and dramatic play to engage children in becoming their own Character. We work on physical fitness, survival skills, and dramatic reenactment. Picture a PG version of training for the Hunger Games. Animation will use art and writing techniques to help campers design a character of their own. What are the character’s strengths, weaknesses, super powers, character flaws? Where is the character from? Who is the character’s nemesis? Campers will conclude Animation by designing a conflict and resolution between their character and its enemy through art, writing, or acting. Here is the catch. Campers won't think of it as work!
Campers will be divided into two groups by age.
When you pick up your child each day, there is an optional parent-supervised swim hour in the pool.
