Look here for workshops and classes designed to provide health and balance in your life. Wellness is generally used to mean a healthy balance of the mind, body and spirit that results in an overall feeling of well-being.

The Everyday Herbal Series
  Over the course of 5 months (7 workshops, total), Lindsay will guide you through the basics of integrating plants and herbs into your everyday life.  Each workshop will focus on a different medium.  We will sample, explore, and create herbal concoctions as well as learn about herbs/plants of that particular season.  The workshops meet on Saturdays (January to May) 1-2 times a month from 1-3pm. January 19th - Salves, balms, and oils; Ferbuary 2nd - Syrups and honey infusions; March 9th - Herbal infusions (water-based) and herbal milks; March 30th - Herbal vinegars and cordials; April 13th - Herbal green drinks and herbed smoothies; May 4th - Herbal brews and sodas; May 25th - Herbal tinctures.  For more info on Lindsay's work, go to www.madhupamaypop.com.

All Levels Yoga ($10):  Join Lindsay Wilson at the MS Modern Homestead Center on Fridays from 12-1:15 pm for all levels yoga.  We will focus on the breath, stretching, and asana (postures) to help you feel more integrated, calm, and connected to your breath. Yoga is for everyone. And, it is a wonderful tool to reconnect with your body and the more simple aspects of being alive.  Fridays from 12-1:15 pm.

Meditation at The Homestead($10-$20) Join Miki for a midweek break to experience the many benefits of guided group meditation. No previous meditation experience or equipment is required. Discover meaningful living through the power of this simple, gentle mindfulness exercise as you connect more deeply with yourself, while also creating a new community of meditators. Wednesdays 7:15-8:15 pm

Line Dance for Fitness- It is always more fun to be dancing, than not dancing. If you feel that way, but are often sidelined at weddings and gatherings because you don’t know the Electric Slide?  Line dancing is fun and a great work-out. Learn basic steps that are incorporated into many line dances across the country. Learn common universal line dances along with regional ones with new friends in a safe atmosphere. Once you know enough dances and common steps you will be able to quickly catch on to any line dance and be off the wall and out on the floor in no time. Wild Food and Herb Walk ($15/$20/$30):  Join Lindsay Wilson the day before Earth Day at the Homestead Center to learn about the large amount of wild foods and herbs in the Starkville area.  We will meet on Sunday, April 21st at 1 pm behind the main house.  The workshop will be from 1-3 pm and make sure to wear trekking shoes as we will go on a walk, no more than 1 mile total.  Sunday, April 21 1-3 pm.

Homemade Natural Cleaners

Herbal Preparation 101 ($45): Participants will have the opportunity to learn the basics for making herbal preparations including tinctures, salves, teas and poultices. The focus of this class will be on preparation methods and not on basic herbal methods or specific uses of herbs, although naturally, there will be limited discussion of these topics. Participants will have the opportunity to make multiple creations to take home as well. The price includes materials and refreshments April 7th 2-5pm.

Healthy Foods for Picky Palates ($10): Want your family to eat healthier but not sure how to encourage them? Do you have a picky eater and want to find ways to boost their nutrient intake? Or maybe you'd just like to figure out a few simple and deliciously healthy homemade replacements for store bought and processed ingredients? This is the workshop for you! We will make and sample several recipes that will delight even the pickiest palate and leave you feeling happy about the nutrient boost. 9:30-11:30 am April 26th

Tune In ($30-60 sliding scale for each session in a 3 part series): 6-8pm If you are curious about how using simple mindfulness techniques like meditation to “tune in” leads to significant positive life changes, this series of workshops is for you.

4/18 Creating calm in chaos: You already have everything you ever needed to experience calm in the middle of life's storms.

Herbal First Aid Kit ($45): The Herbal First Aid Kit will provide the opportunity to learn what nature provides for the bumps and scrapes that we all encounter throughout life! You will learn the basics of multiple herbs and be equipped to make your own portable Herbal First Aid Kit with basic knowledge of the contents and applications as well as the resources needed to assemble it. So whether you keep your herbal first aid kit handy around the house or use it for life on the go, you will learn what you need to know to be naturally prepared! April 26th  9:30-11:30am

Seal & Heal the Gut ($25):The gut is now being referred to as the second brain or the ‘enteric brain’ among researchers and scientists.  This reflects what ancient medical systems knew all along.  The health of the gut and its effect on the mind is becoming the focus for research on autism, learning disabilities, schizophrenia, manic depression, Crohn’s disease and other health difficulties. Saturday June 15th 3-5:30 pm

Herbs for Women ($50): Herbs for Women will explore the benefits of herbs for women during all stages of life. Participant will leave with the knowledge to empower themselves to support their health and well being with herbal preparations specific to women's needs. All participants will take home knowledge, resources and a delicious herbal tea.This class is for females only and not limited by age. If your daughter would like to participate, only you can know if she would be an active participant. Please take age and maturity level into consideration and be mindful of the other students by choosing to let her sit this one out if necessary.) Females under age 18 may participate with a paying participant for free. TBA
